Will Short Gorham lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, where he has learned to dodge sidewalk lizards, mostly theoretical hurricane landfalls, and office jobs. He has been published in journals, newspapers, and magazines including Carve Magazine, The Hawaiʻi Review, The Tampa Bay Times, PolitiFact, and Florida Trend. His two daughters win more awards than he does and deservedly so. He dedicates “Carriages” to the family’s first and only dog Hektor, who died shortly after the story was written. He’s glad Hektor never read “Carriages” because Hektor would have been terribly envious of all those fictional walks.
