Gracie Newton was born in a small town in South Carolina where she has lived most of her life. She graduated from The Governors School for the Arts and Humanities residential high school in Greenville in May of 2015. She is currently a Junior at the University of South Carolina, Columbia, where she is working towards her BFA in Art Studio with a concentration in Graphic Design. Gracie’s work explores portraiture and symbolism; she enjoys incorporating nontraditional objects that carry weighted significance into her portraits. Although she is typically someone who likes to get messy while creating art, she is passionate about digital illustration where she uses her trackpad, the pen tool, and her fingers to create detailed images. She is working towards further crafting her artistic style, merging both hand drawn and digitally rendered illustrations.
